tattoo aftercare
1. Immediately After Your Session
Your artist will apply a sterile film (Saniderm/second skin) to protect your new tattoo. This barrier helps prevent bacteria from entering the wound and keeps your tattoo clean during the initial healing stage.
2. First 3 days
Leave the Saniderm in place for 3 days (72 hours).
You may shower normally, but avoid soaking the area (no baths, pools, or saunas).
Avoid exercise, as sweat can become trapped under the film and have negative effects on the healing process.
Within the first 3 days - If the film fills with fluid or becomes loose, carefully remove it and begin the following steps early.
3. Removing the Saniderm (After 3 Days)
Gently peel it off under warm running water to loosen the adhesive.
Wash your hands, then clean the tattoo gently with fragrance-free, antibacterial soap.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel—do not rub.
4. After Removal
Apply a thin layer of unscented, gentle moisturizer (such as Aquaphor or a tattoo-specific aftercare product).
Continue cleaning and moisturizing 2–3 times daily until the tattoo is fully healed (usually 2–3 weeks).
Do not scratch or pick at any scabs or peeling skin.
5. General Care
Avoid direct sunlight, excessive sweat, tanning, swimming, and tight clothing over the area until healed.
Once healed, always use sunscreen to protect your tattoo’s color and detail.
